About Curious Minds

Enabling better engagement with science and technology across all sectors of New Zealand society.

A Nation of Curious Minds – He Whenua Hihiri i te Mahara, A National Strategic Plan for Science in Society, was launched in 2014 to help all New Zealanders engage with science and technology.

The plan focuses on three action areas over its first three years and one key integrated area – the Participatory Science Platform. Each area has specific initiatives. These areas are:

The overarching programme is referred to as ‘Curious Minds’. The various activities running under Curious Minds aim to help share the value of science and technology by working with communities, businesses and educators through new and existing initiatives.

The Participatory Science Platform brings the three action areas together. This world-first initiative aims to engage communities in research projects that are locally relevant and have quality science and learning outcomes.
