Dodd-Walls Centre and partners (University of Otago; Enviroschools, ORC; Southern Photonics Limited) will work with Otago primary and secondary schools to distribute and install cheap, optical atmospheric particulate sensors to monitor atmospheric pollution. The aim is to collect a comprehensive data picture regarding particulate air pollution (particulate size and distribution) and map how this changes over time. The data will be compared with World Health Organization guidelines regarding recommended air quality to assess local risk factors and provide evidence for the need to change some current practices.
